By Hank Edson

Don’t want to climb no mountain,
I don’t ever want to fly,
Don’t ever want to count up
All the stars in the sky.
Don’t want to cross no ocean,
There’s no seas I wanna dive,
No fortunes to collect,
Or fancy cars to drive.
I don’t ever want to tell you
All the crazy things I’ve done
Cuz the only thing I want
Is to be your number one.

Lord knows I’m not the savior;
I don’t understand his role.
I’ve never had that passion
And I lack his self-control.
The president I’m not
For I would not tell his lies.
I never ever could cast down
Weapons from the skies.
I don’t want to be your leader
Not by any god or gun,
But by your side I’d die
Just to be your number one.

I don’t hope to always laugh,
I sure don’t want to get too high,
I don’t need to play with death
Or to search for reasons why.
I don’t need to find myself.
I don’t want a place to hide.
I don’t have to prove the truth
Of these things I feel inside.
The ups and downs of life,
I can take them as they come,
But my heart and soul I’d give
If I was your number one.

Listen everybody
To a man who’s been denied.
If the world was made in seven days,
Today it finally died.
There’s corruption in the air.
Love is turning into dust.
And of all six billion people,
How few there are to trust.
A stranger loves my lover
Like the burning sun
And I will never kiss the face
Of my number one.

Don’t want to climb no mountain,
I don’t ever want to fly,
Don’t ever want to count up
All the stars in the sky.
Don’t want to cross no ocean,
There’s no seas I wanna dive,
No fortunes to collect,
Or fancy cars to drive.
I don’t ever want to tell you
All the crazy things I’ve done
Cuz the only thing I want
Is to be your number one.
